Renown Canadian Grill Chef Ted Reader Reviews the FiAir blower
A few weeks back I received another bbq accessory in the mail. It was a great surprise. Fiair is the product. A hand held battery operated air blower. Since receiving it I have tried it out on a number of different charcoal grills/smokers/pits. It works! Works great actually.
Sometimes your fire needs a bit of a helping hand and this gadget works well. It is a quick and easy way to add fuel (blowing air/oxygen) into your fire. I have used it on my fire truck pit, my BGE, Fire Pit, Rotisserie Pit and here in this video on my charcoal German Grill.
works quick enough. no stand needed.
I used it the other night on my fire pit and got a raging fire going with it. I have one in the fire truck and one at the cottage and one in my bbq rig and one in the back yard. it works!
Have a look at it and check out Fiair at www.fiair.net Cheers!

September 20, 2014This review is from: FiAir FA-001 Air Blower Fire StarterDoes a great job building the fire in my Big Green Egg.
The only downside is the battery life. Which is entirely dependent on how much you use it. With mine I got about a month out of the 1st set of AAA batteries. The fan starts slowing down quite a lot when they drain, which is to be expected. But thankfully it opens easily and the batteries are simple to change (no screwdriver like all the kids toys these days!).
The plastic of the tip does seem to resist heat quite well. I've wedged it up against a hot Egg and the grill grate and it's not showing any signs of melting...it's still a solid 4 stars and I'd certainly recommend it to others.

Marco Menonarco✫✫✫✫✫review: powerful tool for fire starting,
August 15, 2014This review is from: FIAIR - Air Blower Fire Starter (Kitchen)I finally got the chance to test the Fiair last weekend at a multi get together at my friend house. My wife and I were there for a couple days and we had soaked wood and a wet fire to deal with due to the rain that turned on and off every other hour. We let the fire go out several times and every time I broke out the fiar, we would have a raging fire within 1 minute. I actually had acceptable flames within 30 seconds…. but I just couldn’t help keeping the fiair on to watch the fire get going in such a short amount of time. We are talking big logs too. The tapered edge was perfect for directing the air flow right where I wanted it. I held it super close to the really hot parts of the fire and there was no deformation of the tip. There was enough airflow…after a minute of constant use I did hear the fan go slower…but it still put out a ton of air. I think that this is a totally understandable sacrifice to make the overall package much tighter (if you used AA batteries, it would either be too fat or the fan would have to be small)
One of the most important aspects of using the fiair is that at no time did I feel like any less of a “man” for using the Fiair…I still setup the logs as I would and followed all the same techniques … the fiair was just a tool to make the fire much faster. All of my friends said it was great. The fact that it is small also helped make it more of a tool and less of a contraption. It was knocked around all weekend and no scratches on it.
S.M.✫✫✫✫✫Useful for smoking meat,
August 4, 2014This review is from: FIAIR - Air Blower Fire Starter (Kitchen)I bought this to help with a long day of smoking pork shoulders, brisket, turkey, and even tofu! I had a hand crank fan a couple of years ago that, while much cheaper, only survived the one day of smoking. The FiAir was way easier to use being battery operated and was excellent for getting the fire to the right temperature. It was especially helpful when I needed to add more charcoal/wood throughout the day to maintain the temperature and it was easy to direct the air exactly where I needed it. It is small, convenient, and works great! It was definitely worth the cost.
Ray Thomas✫✫✫✫Light, works well.,
August 3, 2014This review is from: FIAIR - Air Blower Fire Starter (Kitchen)It works great actually. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the feel of it... It's not one of those items where you put it in your hand and you are like "wow, that's made well". It's also not super cheap feel either. The upside to it is that it weighs very little. It definitely gets the charcoal going for sure.
JD✫✫✫✫✫Great for charcoal grilling,
August 1, 2014This review is from: FIAIR - Air Blower Fire Starter (Kitchen)I purchased this because I have a very cheap charcoal grill that doesn't have good airflow. I could never keep the coals as hot as I wanted them to be. With this, I'm able to blow air into the few little vent holes that the grill has and keep them hot.

July 19, 2014This review is from: FIAIR - Air Blower Fire Starter (Kitchen)One reviewer said it was as big as his thumb - HA! It's roghly 7.5" long...(no, I didn't measure it!) and perhaps 3" at its widest point. It does EXACTLY as advertised. If you're a die- hard real charcoal (not briquets - yuch!) grilling man, this product is worth every penny. Charcoal absorbs moisture and can be difficult to get going. 2, 20-30 seconds blasts with FiAir does the trick. Great Producy!!! No, I don't work for 'email!

May 25, 2014This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresThis is a convenient little gadget for getting a fire moving or getting it picked back up after dying down. We used it often over a 3 month window before batteries started showing signs they need replaced.
We also found this can help get temperatures up inside a Big Green Egg grill a lot faster, just let the fire get going a bit first.

May 22, 2014This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresThis a nifty grill tool that will speed the grill time. I start my grill with a electric starter to get the coals going but it always took a while to get the fire to spread to be able to cook. I had waved cardboard and used small fans but needed something more consistent. On my first attempt I lit the fire with the electric starter to get it started for about 15 Minutes. Once I got a handful of hot coals going I took the starter out and turned on the FiAir. Immediately after turning it on the coals the fire started to spread. I had it on for about two minutes and was ready for grilling. The only problem is yes you have to stand there and hold this thing. I know they make some that you can leave clamped. I really like the fact it is battery operated so I can take this thing on camping trips and tailgates.

This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresI started looking for a decent set of bellows to help revive my wood stove when it's time to reload the wood. I was skeptical but willing to try it after reading many positive reviews. It works as advertised and doesn't blow ash all over if you keep it at a reasonable distance. I start at 15 inches away and move closer until I get the desired effect. It beats sticking my head near the fire and the price is significantly lower than a good set of bellows.
✫✫✫✫✫My family and friends officially think I'm nuts.,raquettelaker2
February 25, 2014 This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresI bought a half a cord of "seasoned" firewood in the fall. The stuff just would not light. So I started shopping around on Amazon for a traditional manual bellows. All the review were pretty room-temperature; seems like one of those products that you can't get quality out of even if you want to spend the money. Leather ripping, cracking, coming apart, whatever...
So the FiAir popped up with a bunch of stars so I said why the hell not? Hey, it works just fine! Three AAA's is all it takes to power this simple tool, and it works great. No more bending over and blowing on the coals for me! My friends think it's ridiculous but it was cheaper than a bellows and will probably last longer.
EJG - ColoradoThis review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresFor both starting and reluming a woodstove fire, I 've found the FiAir to be excellent! I won mine in a drawing, and I've been using it for about two weeks now, and am very pleased.
No more will I blow on coals to relume a woodstove fire or wait for 20 or more minutes with the grate on for enough air to get the fire blazing again, now I simply push the orange button on FiAir and within moments the coals are crackling and flames quickly appear. The raising of the temperature of coals is super fast with FiAir bringing the newly placed firewood to a temperature which keeps them burning long after I close the woodstove doors.
There have been several times when I would have had to restart a fire from scratch had it not been for FiAir.
I am very pleased with the power of the FiAir; its air output is strong enough to quickly get a fire going fast or to relume one which has burned down.
Easy to use, lightweight, and effective, this is the solution I envisioned could be made but never saw such a product. Glad I have a FiAir!
✫✫✫✫✫Really (really, really) cool,
January 19, 2014This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresOkay, it's the dead of winter right now, so I haven't had the chance to see it in action for real just yet, but this is a cool little thing. Seems to put out a bit more air than just blowing and much more consistent, which is a very good thing. One thing to be aware of, it's much smaller than it looks in the picture, it's only slightly longer than my hand. No biggie, just surprised me when I first saw it.

January 13, 2014This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresIt is great to use this when you still have a bed of coals. You don't have to bother wadding paper with kindling to get the fire going. It also works well fanning the fire a bit when you have a cold start and do have to use paper with kindling. It is quiet and stores easily. I don't know that you would need it to blow more air. I think that you would just stir up the ashes and make a mess. I like that it is small. I think this would work well for fires at a campground to get things going.
Bruce Durkee✫✫✫✫Does the job well,
January 12, 2014This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresThis is a good, well built unit and does the job well. It is quiet and the battery seems to last a long time. We use it mostly to stoke up the wood stove and sometimes to speed up the barbeque. It is a little spendy in my mind since it is a pretty simple technology and uses very inexpensive materials. That said, I would recommend it for the use I describe.

This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your Fires
Given the other reviews, I was not sure what to expect. Bottom line: It's okay. The unit is lightweight (so it seems flimsy) but it works. Despite using rechargeable batteries, the strenght of the airstream is adequate (to excessive). I discovered (too late) that when blowing full-force into a fire, a cloud of ashes would blow back into the room. After having spent the next hour apologizing to my spouse, and getting out the vacuum to clean it up, I was able to resurrect a dying fire, Later, I discovered that the red button can be pressed _lightly_ for a lower-powered blast. I guess I should have RTFM. I've used it for about two weeks almost every night and the batteries seem to be holding up fine. I have noticed that the switch or the battery connection seems balky from time-to-time but a (gentle) rap on my palm has reseated (something) so it works again.

December 20, 2013This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresI have used this product to start my fireplace insert. If you have tried to start a fire in one of these things, it can be difficult. This has eased the pain of starting a fire in the fireplace. It cuts the time down considerably to get a good fire going. I have tried it out at camp too. Considering it was just past dusk, this thing had a blaze going before it was dark out. Just make sure you have good batteries in it, dollar store cheapo's won't work. this isn't trying to power the digital flash on a camera, its powering a motor.
Oh, and hold it a little bit away from the fire. I haven't had any issues with it melting as I don't put it in the fire.

This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your Fires
This is a great product. My family uses a high-efficiency fireplace to heat our house and the last few days have been pretty cold, so we fired it up this past week. In the past - every morning I would wake up and try to get a fire restarted on the hot embers that were left over from the over-night burn. Every morning it was the same thing - either I would be blowing on those embers for 15 minutes or I would have to completely restart the fire.
Now with FiAir, I just put some new wood on top of the embers and use the FiAir to get a hot fire going quickly. It takes about 30 seconds to go from some left over embers to a full blazing fire! Save me time and, more importantly, my lungs!
I read some some other posts about the power of the unit. I am not sure what they were expecting, but mine puts through plenty of air to take embers-to-flame in no time at all. Any more powerful and I think it would blow a bunch of ash around making a huge mess.

I bought this to keep a charcoal smoker stoked. Airflow is much lighter than the methods I was using. Feeds just enough air without sending ashes everywhere. The only issue I have is with the wiggly power button. Hopefully that doesn't fail any time soon. I keep rechargeable batteries on hand. However this will make it through an 8 to 10 hour pork shoulder with no issue before needing to charge them again.

August 28, 2013
This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresA really helpful device for getting a fire started in a bar-b-q or bonfire. Works like a bellows. The switch is occasionally a little finicky, but if you take your finger off and then press again it works fine. Note: it makes bar-b-ques much hotter than they would normally be (especially charcoal) and may stir up ashes. Best not to use it when the food is on the grill.
We did hear that a small number of the first FiAir shipped with finicky switches. You had to push the button straight down in order to make contact; pressing off-center made no contact. As Soplos said: if you take your finger off and then press again it works fine. As soon as we learned of the problem, we upgraded the switch and all units since have shipped with a much more forgiving power button. That problem is solved. But we DO want to hear about any problems with FiAir. And we especially appreciate that even with a finicky switch Soplos liked FiAir enough to give it 5 stars.
We lit our first fire this weekend and used the FiAir for the second day (when we woke up) when there were only some embers. FiAir worked great! Within a few seconds those embers were burning hot and had the new logs cooking in no time.Marty G — Pittsburgh, PA USA

I finally decided to BBQ some steaks this weekend and asked for my FiAir back. They are usually very good at returning items borrowed. To my surprise she was reluctant in returning it to me. She absolutely loves it and had used it several times. She is going to order three of them but I have to leave mine in the enclosure so she can have access to it till hers arrive.
Wow! Use it on my steaks and love it!!!

Thank you, they (FiAir) happened to arrive the morning I left for the competition. So got to try it out during the cookoff. Only placed in Chicken, but it was a 6th place out of 96 teams. Some really good teams.
Got to show it to one of the guys. He was interested in trying one out. I can tell you I loved using mine. Saved my bacon a couple of times, when I needed to quickly restart a fire. In cook-offs timing is everything. So got to use it to raise my temps a couple of times as well.

This review is from: FiAir - The Handy Little Blower to Feed Your FiresI received FiAir as a gift from friends who have watched me struggle to get (and keep) charcoal fires going in my grill. WOW! What a difference. I use Weber cubes as kindling and once I lit those little guys and aimed FiAir at them my coals were blazing in no time. (Usually the cubes burn great and the charcoal just sits there!) I probably used FiAir more than necessary cause it was so cool to point and shoot to spread the flames. We were ready to cook in 9 1/2 minutes. (My skeptical partner timed it.) We will probably get more to throw in with our camping gear, and most certainly 1--2 as gifts! Neat product!

My Review of FiAir: TRULY WORKS GREAT
Confessions of a Gas Grill Owner
In the name of full disclosure I must reveal that I have watched the birth of FiAir from the very beginning, when it was just a glimmer in Alan Harris' eye. Because of my great affection for Alan I sure hoped this new device would sell well. I must also admit, I really wasn't sure anyone would buy a hand held blower to start fires.
Over the years I have had a gas grill and generally felt good about the food I prepared on it. Mainly grilling chicken, salmon, shrimp and the occasional veggie burger. I guess I was watching too many BBQ shows on the cooking channel because I decided I have to get a charcoal grill. Earlier this summer we did buy a nice basic grill, got some charcoal and lighter fluid and did a few meals on it. It became evident that the lighter fluid did make getting the coals lit quicker but with the negative effect of tasting the oily, chemical taste of the fluid on the food.
Now here comes my FiAir! I can't wait to see if this could perform as advertised. I took 3 pages of newspaper and rolled them up to form what I call a fire-bagel. Placed the charcoal and a couple wood briquettes on the paper and grabbed a lighter. As the paper started to catch, I grabbed the FiAir and started to blow a nice steady stream of air, and that sure jump started the process. I let the coals start to burn and that is when you really see the advantages of having a FiAir. By blowing oxygen into the just started coals, you immediately see the rapid heating and how a minor glows start to become a strong steady flame. This truly works great. Easily cuts the time from first light to ready to grill time in half.
I also found that having a FiAir has given me some more flexibility on when dinner will be ready. I sometime start the grill with plenty of time, to prep my foods, have a beer and hang out. Yet if guests arrive early or just need to get that food cooking, because of FiAir I can speed the process up.
My grilled foods have been outstanding, there is nothing that takes the place of the smokey goodness and high temps you can get from a charcoal and/or wood. I can't understand how I ever put up with that awful taste of lighter fluid or the blandness of a gas grill. Thanks Alan for all the work in make FiAir a reality. As I have said before "It doesn't suck, it BLOWS!"

I got the Fiair a couple of weeks ago and have used it several time with good success. As a matter of fact it salvaged the grilling of some venison steaks that I grilled last weekend. I let the coals go a little long and I thought that it would be best to add some to the top of the old coals and the Fiair came thru like a champ in getting the new coals up to temp in a matter of 2-3 minutes. All the other food was ready but the steaks were not. The Fiair saved the grilling day!
I do like this little guy! Nice job on it.

Product works well--blows with just about the right velocity to get a fire going without stirring up ashes. Batteries have lasted pretty well so far.

Arrived sooner than expected. I gave it to may daughter and have not had any bad reports. It worked very well when they got it and it gets a fire going in a hurry. Nothing works at their house very long. I don't know if this still works or not but it is still laying by her wood stove so I assume it still is ok.

Product is just ok. Not fantanstic. A little too pricey for the quality of product.

Excellent product. Product was shipped the same day I ordered it but USPS took 13 days to deliver the product not the sellers fault. The seller should consider switching to UPS. Here is my product video review. http://youtu.be/cCcVAIJSI4s

Really cool little thing. Bought it as a Christmas present and haven't really had the opportunity to use it (too freaking cold!), but it seems to put out plenty of air and should keep a camp fire fed well. One thing to note is that this is smaller than the pictures seems to make it, about the size of a cordless phone (you know, like a landline... did I just date myself?).

This blower was not what we wanted but the customer service from the seller what stellar!!!!! I wish every company I purchase from was a co-operative, courteous and fast as this one. I will certainly consider buy from this seller again. Customer service is the most important thing when you buy online. Amazon is tops in that category and so are their sellers!!!!!

Excellent communications. Went out of his way to get the best way and rate to have 3 shipped to Canada. Everyone I show the FiAir wants one and it's easy to tell them where. If anyone uses a charcoal grill or goes camping, this is a must have. I love this thing. Thank you!!!
